The Jungle Indians of Panama, In Times Past, Have Used the Poison Found Under the Skin Of These Colorful Little Frogs On The Tips of Their Arrows. The size of this carving is about 2 inches long by 1.75 inches wide and 1.5 inches high.Tagua or Vegetable Ivory is the fruit or nut from a palm tree that grows in the tropics. The individual nuts are very hard and are in a pod that resembles a coconut. The carvings that I offer are primarily created by the men and women of the Emberra tribe; however, I also sometimes have carvings made by the Wounaan tribe. Both of these tribes live in the Panamanian jungle province of Darien and are considered to be quite primitive. All of these tiny works of art are completely hand carved and stained in realistic or sometimes fanciful colors. Occasionally they are left the natural off white color of the inside portion of the tagua nut. Pay by Paypal or money order for next business day mailing.
